The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
